Inspector Jacqueline Clouseau vs. The Pink Panther
Inspector Jacqueline Clouseau on the hunt for the stolen Pink Panther diamond.
Animation sequence I made in the style of the 1960s Pink Panther cartoon shorts featuring The Inspector. I wanted to create a female version of Jacques Clouseau that combined the bean-like shape of the cartoon with Steve Martin’s portrayal of the character in 2006. His white hair and beret made for a more iconic silhouette than Peter Sellers, as they just looks a little too much like Inspector Gadget if I stuck with the old hat. I really like how she turned out, she’s so easy to draw. It’s like a Powerpuff Girl or a character from Dexter’s Laboratory.
I swear I’ve had this planned for at least a month; Spencer and I start prepping for Halloween costumes in September. it’s wild to me that the Louvre was robbed like a scene straight out of a Pink Panther film at the same time. How often does something like this line up? I couldn’t help myself, I drew this entire thing in five days out of sheer motivation.
I had a lot of fun doing this little project. I made this whole thing on a whim. It was a unique challenge to try to replicate the shapes and movements of the old cartoon, but I love the fluid look it created.
What do you think? Do you like this new design of Inspector Clouseau? Did the Louvre heist remind you of the Pink Panther as well?
